How do I contact Guatemalan Adventure?

What documentation do I need to travel to Guatemala?
  • A passport is required to enter Guatemala.
  • For visa information, visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • (A) Some travelers do not need a visa. (B) Some should consult the Embassy of Guatemala. (C) Others must process a visa before entry.
Do I have to pay additional taxes?
  • On the flight from Flores to Guatemala City, there is a US$3.00 per-person exit tax.
  • At the Guatemala–Copán, Honduras border, the fee is Q10.00 per person; returning from Copán to Guatemala, it is US$3.00 per person.
What is the local currency?

Guatemala uses the Quetzal: Q1, Q5, Q10, Q20, Q50, Q100 and Q200 notes. US dollars are widely accepted, as are most credit cards. We recommend dollars or cards for meals and Quetzales for shopping in local markets.

Where can I exchange money?

We recommend exchanging US dollars at banks, where the rate is usually best, or at the hotel lobby. ATMs are also available. The exchange rate is approximately US$1.00 for Q7.40–Q8.00.

What tips are suggested for guides, restaurants and hotel staff?
  • Restaurants: 10% for service, although some restaurants include it already.
  • Bellboys and housekeeping: US$1.00 to US$2.00.
  • Guides: US$5.00 to US$8.00 per person.
How old is a child for Guatemalan Adventure?

Children are 3 to 11 years old. For the Tikal tour, children are considered 3 to 8 years old.

Who are our guides?

Our local guides are selected for their experience, knowledge and professionalism. They are highly qualified and committed to making your trip unforgettable.

What languages are available for the tours?

We offer tours in Spanish and English. Italian, German, French and Portuguese are available for an additional charge.

How far in advance should I book a tour?

Day tours require a reservation at least 24 hours before departure. Packages require at least 72 hours. Availability is limited, so we recommend booking in advance.

How can I pay?

Tours can be paid online with a credit card or through PayPal. To arrange a deposit or bank transfer, email reservations@guatemalanadventure.com.

Does my reservation include travel insurance?

Guatemalan Adventure has collective liability insurance (RCDP) that covers passengers specifically while they are inside the vehicle for injuries resulting from traffic events.

Can I modify or cancel an existing reservation?

For a local flight modification, the penalty is US$30.00 three days or more before the flight, or US$100.00 one day or less before the flight.

Cancellation policy, except for the Tikal Tour:

  • More than 30 days before the trip: charges on expenditures.
  • 29 to 15 days before: 50% refund.
  • 14 to 10 days before: 25% refund.
  • 9 to 0 days before: non-refundable.

For tour modifications, email reservations@guatemalanadventure.com; changes are subject to hotel availability and policies.

When will I receive my booking confirmation?

Confirmation arrives immediately by email, except for Tikal tours, where it will arrive no later than 12 hours after purchase.

What happens if I do not receive my confirmation within 24 hours?

Email reservations@guatemalanadventure.com and we will follow up.

Where are my plane tickets for the Tikal tour?

Tickets are sent by email or directly to your hotel. A printed copy is not necessary; tickets are also accepted on your mobile device.

How early should I arrive at the airport?

For international flights, arrive at least two hours before departure at La Aurora International Airport. For local flights, arrive at least one and a half hours before departure.

Do you offer menu options for special diets?

Email reservations@guatemalanadventure.com with the type of diet you require.

Can I take the tours if I have a medical condition?

Contact reservations@guatemalanadventure.com. Participation depends on your medical condition and the tour.

What equipment should I bring?

We recommend light cotton clothing, comfortable shoes, a waterproof jacket, swimwear and hiking shoes.

Are meals included?
  • Breakfast is included at all hotels when you book with us.
  • Lunch is included on the Tikal and Yaxha tours.
  • One-day tours do not include a meal.
Which language do the drivers speak?

Our drivers speak Spanish and basic English. If you need an English-speaking guide, let us know when booking; an additional charge may apply.

How do I coordinate my hotel transfer?

Coordinate the date, place and time of your transfer by writing to reservations@guatemalanadventure.com.

Do you pick up at private homes?

We offer transportation to private homes in zones 1, 9, 10, 13, 14 and 15 of Guatemala City.

What time should I be ready for the Tikal tour?

If you fly from Guatemala City and stay in the city, pickup is at 4:30–4:45 am. From Antigua Guatemala, pickup is at 3:45–4:00 am.

What if my airport transportation does not show up?

Call our emergency line at (+502) 3262-6064 and we will resolve the inconvenience as soon as possible.
